FAQ

What is Radio Frequency Welding?

RFW is an excellent way to permanently join multiple layers of weldable materials together to achieve an air-tight, fluid proof seal. Radio frequency welding provides a strong bond and is especially effective when manufacturing medical, military or other critical performance products.

How do I know RFWelding is the right process for my project?

If you require air, fluid or weather tight seams then RF Welding is the right process. RF is used to permanently fuse together materials such as: PVC (polyvinyl chloride), TPU, EVA, polyethylene, some foams, polymer films, laminated cloth, nylon and more. An RF welded bond allows the material to be cut and sealed simultaneously. The fusing of materials with radio frequency welding temporarily alters the molecular structure at the point of fusion/bonding to create a new single layer of material forming a gas and liquid proof seam/seal. Radio frequency welded bonds are as much or more weather, UV and abuse resistant than the original base fabric.

How long does RF Welding last?

Radio Frequency Welding maintains its bond for the same duration the original material lasts in a given situation. It will not leak or break apart anymore than the original material would in its environment. When the two materials are fused together the bond is actually stronger and can hold up longer than the original material due to the increased thickness/mass.

Do I need RF Welding or Heat Sealing for my project?

If you need to contain liquid or gas, you will need either radio frequency welding or heat welding. If you want a 100% weatherproof seal, you need radio frequency welding or heat welding. That being said, because we are a ‘multi-process’ manufacturer utilizing Radio Frequency Welding, Hot Air Welding, Sonic Welding, and Sewing, we can objectively assess the most advantageous core manufacturing process for your product.
